[ as soon as she gets a hold of a phone she scrambles to contact the people she'd met up with at the morgue. it doesn't go all that well, but, by some miracle, she comes by raleigh's number... so guess who is going to get a call. or, rather, guess who would if she'd dial him. hesitating, she frowns at the phone and wonders if, maybe, she's being stupid. they're all probably okay, but... ]
[ RINGRING. pick up shibe raleigh! ]
Raleigh, [ she looks aside. ] I was just wondering if [ you were okay. ] you hadn't gotten yourself killed yet. Do you know how worried I've been! tch, Talk about stupid... you're stupid... now where are you?
[ he really wasn't expecting to get a call so soon (mostly because he hasn't met a lot of people, and he really ought to fix that one day), but when his phone rings, he picks up without hesitating. it could be something important, and as it turns out—he's right. ]
Saya. [ it's the little spitfire from a few days back. he's glad to hear from her. ] No, I'm not dead yet. I've just been mapping this place out, trying to find clothes that fit me.
[ the only jacket he's found right now is one size too big, but it's not a huge bother. ]
[ she's so glad that he picked up. she hadn't enjoyed talking to his voicemail. ] G- Good. I'm glad, but... [ no, she reminds herself, don't get upset. ] but you should have told me where you were going! [ too upset. ] I thought something might have happened to you.
And up until recently I had no way of reaching you! [ she huffs, taking a moment to herself. ] I tried doing the same. Mapping this place out, that is, and it seems like there's a barrier preventing us from leaving. I haven't seen it myself, but a friend told me about it.
[ when he asks her if she's alright she's so glad it's voice. ] I- I'm okay, yeah, ... [ except not really. ] You didn't answer my question: where are you?
[ the way saya strings her words together tells raleigh that something's off, but he doesn't ask about it right off the bat. that just might bring her walls all the way up, and raleigh knows this feeling, understands it well. ]
Sorry. I didn't mean to go without saying anything.
[ he listens to the part about the barrier, thinks that's weird. he wants to know more about it, but he'll hold off on asking. it can wait. ]
I'm near the bar. Did you want me to come find you?
It's alright. I know that getting your bearings is important. [ she's still trying to get hers. this place just keeps messing with her though! ]
[ she'd like to go check it out too. it's not that she thinks amal lied to her, it's just she'd like to see the thing for herself. that, and it definitely sounds a little strange. ]
No. I can meet you there. I'm not that far... and that place has electricity, besides.
To be honest with you, I didn't get very far with that.
[ it's the only reason why he's trying to tackle this one step at a time. if he goes any faster than that, he'll just lose a lot more than he'll gain, he thinks. ]
Yeah. I think I'm done with fumbling around in the dark, so I'll see you there. [ he pauses. ] You sure you're doing okay though?
[ she feigns a smile. ] I haven't either, but I'm, well, I'm trying. [ and it's not going well. she's reluctant to relay that much, however. ] Me too. I started making a map with somebody here though, so that may help. I'll bring it with me and maybe we can check out the barrier. [ ... ] Raleigh. [ she'd been trying to evade the subject, but having him just ask her outright makes that difficult. ] I'm fine. [ her voice cracks. ]
[ raleigh isn't convinced, but he'll let it slide. he knows what it's like to get bombarded by questions about just how alright you are, so he isn't going to do the same to her. still, it concerns him, he has to say something. ]
I should be able to get there soonish, alright. [ she does have to bike over though, and that means making the trek back through the forest. that's not something she's looking forward to, but at least it's daytime. those stupid mongrels shouldn't be out... at least not in full force... ] You'll wait for me, right? At the bar?
( ooc; did you want to just action this out here or should we set up a log? )
I'll be there. [ he says it like a promise, because the way she sounds right now isn't something he likes, so he's trying to reassure her in little ways. ] We could even grab a bite to eat, if that place has anything good.
...ok... [ she's probably. getting a bit redundant at this point, but she appreciates his constant ressurance. ] That sounds good. It's been a while since I've had a decent meal. It can't be any worse than the crap I found at that stupid market, but, here's to hoping. [ ... ] I'll see you soon. [ and, with that, she hangs up. ]
[ she takes a few minutes to psyche herself up, because she's not looking forward to biking through the woods. she's tried to avoid it ever since her little run in with the wolves, but this stupid house has made that impossible. ] I should invest in a boat. [ but who knew what was in that lake. shuddering at the thought she grabbed her bike and set out. she'd eventually arrive, but he'd probably be waiting there for a while... in hindsight she probably should have given him an eta. oops. ]
[ as soon as she arrives she heads inside, trying not to look too anxious to see him. ] Raleigh?
